Supporting Whānau and Professionals with Attachment-Based Developmenal Science

At Neufeld Aotearoa, we’re dedicated to making Dr Gordon Neufeld’s  relational science  accessible to families, schools, counsellors, and youth workers across Aotearoa. Our team brings together local expertise and global knowledge, united by a simple belief: meaningful relationships are at the heart of healthy development.
In the home, the classroom, and the community, our goal is to protect the hononga (connection). By providing a strong attachment, we allow our tamariki to rest in our care so they can find the energy to play, learn, and grow. When the relationship is safe, the potential of the individual—regardless of age or ability—can spontaneously flourish into all they were meant to be.
At the heart of the Attachment-Based Developmental Approach is a simple truth: children don’t need to be made to grow; they need the right conditions to unfold.
This shift changes everything. Parents stop fighting and start understanding. Teachers move from behaviour management to genuine connection. Whānau begin to see their children clearly, without the fog of frustration or shame. The work becomes relational, not coercive.
We support parents, teachers, and professionals through research-informed insights, practical tools, and attachment-based approaches that strengthen connection and resilience in the tamariki and rangatahi you care for. Whether you’re navigating a challenging relationship, looking to transform your classroom, or supporting whānau through change, we’re here to share what we’ve learned and help you create the conditions for genuine growth.
